Description
This sculptural ensemble brings together two distinctive Balinese weaving traditions through a contemporary silhouette.
The bodice features three-dimensional Endek tenun from Klungkung, Bali, crafted into an asymmetrical wrap with a high-cut collar inspired by the traditional Balinese Janggan. A reversed heart-shaped back cutout introduces a sensual contrast to the structured neckline.
The draped lower piece is crafted from Rang-Rang tenun from Nusa Penida, Bali, showcasing its distinctive geometric patterns and expressive texture. Fluid layers highlight the character of the weave, creating movement against the sculptural bodice.
Through contrasting textiles, architectural details, and considered draping, this design reinterprets Indonesian textile heritage through a contemporary lens.
